Mary Walter
Mary is a native Floridian. Growing up in Orlando, she attended Winter Park High School, where she excelled in the creative arts. She played the tuba in the concert and marching band, loved arts classes, and even spent time on dramatic productions, behind the scenes.
Being a "techie" appealed to me, as it was an opportunity to support our talented actors, while contributing to the production in a meaningful way.
In college, Mary found her voice (and her strength) with as a member of the World Renowned Florida State University Marching Chiefs, specifically with the sousaphone section, known as the Royal Flush.

Law was always in the background, as Mary's father, Bob Walter, was an attorney with Foley & Lardner, having cut his teeth in the property departments at Pan Am and Eastern Airlines. As Mary neared the end of her undergraduate career, she decided to attend law school - and actually was the first law student to do so while also participating in the Marching Chiefs.

Mary graduated from FSU College of Law magna cum laude. She returned to Orlando and began working with local law firms that allowed her not only to develop her skills as an attorney, but also to support her community. Mary has represented a range of clients, from Fortune 500 companies to individuals, in various disputes including commercial litigation, construction defect, contract disputes, real estate, negligence, and tort. She is highly experienced as an appellate litigator, having handled cases in all six state appellate courts and the Florida Supreme Court. She has also briefed matters in federal courts, including the middle district, the Eleventh Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. Her work has lead to several written opinions that have clarified the status of law and led to important changes.
In addition to her practice as an attorney, Mary is heavily involved in state and local community activities. She served as the Outreach Chair for the Appellate Practice Section of The Florida Bar before moving up to serve as an officer. She is also active with the Orange County Bar Association, having chaired the Appellate Practice Committee and co-chaired the Solo & Small Firm Committee, and she is heavily involved with the Central Florida Association for Women Lawyers (CFAWL), serving on its Board of Directors for nine years before leading the organization as President from 2020 to 2021. While Mary's term as CFAWL President was during the first years of the COVID Health Crisis, she spearheaded online activities to keep attorneys connected, and CFAWL was recognized by its parent organization, the Florida Association for Women Lawyers (FAWL) as the Chapter of the Year during that time.

Mary is a passionate supporter of the Orange County Bar Association's Legal Aid Society, and she endeavors to provide as much pro bono support as she can. When not working, Mary enjoys spending time with her husband and her pup Gizmo. She loves to travel, whether on land or sea, and she always enjoys finding a new coffee shop or brewery to park her laptop.
